The Story So Far

2026-02-20

CoinLAB started from one simple wish — put the numbers that actually matter on a single calm screen, and make it free for anyone to read.

Perpetual futures data is everywhere and nowhere. Funding sits on one tab, open interest on another, long/short ratios somewhere else entirely. To get a feel for the market you end up juggling half a dozen screens — and most of them are built to sell you something.

CoinLAB began as the opposite of that: one quiet screen that gathers the readings that matter and asks nothing in return. Free to open, free to read, no account required.

From the very start, one rule shaped everything: CoinLAB does not try to tell you what happens next, because nobody honestly can. What it does is read the room.

Is the market trending, or just drifting sideways? Is one side of the trade getting crowded? Every dial here answers "what is the market doing right now" — never "what will it do." That honesty is the whole point. A calm, truthful snapshot beats a confident guess every time.

Over time the dashboard grew a set of live gauges, each one answering a single clear question. How heavily is one side paying the other? How much money is parked in open positions? How are retail traders, whales, and takers leaning?

The important part: they move in real time. The screen breathes with the market instead of showing a frozen snapshot from minutes ago — so a sudden shift shows up the moment it happens, not after the fact.

A tool you can't read is just noise. So a surprising amount of effort went into the parts you're never meant to notice — a layout that holds together on a phone, text that stays legible in direct sunlight, screens that switch without a jarring flash.

None of that shows up in a screenshot. But it's the difference between a dashboard you glance at and trust, and one you close after ten seconds. The goal never changed: glance, understand, move on.

Numbers only help if you know what they mean — so we started writing plain-English Guides for each metric. No jargon, no gatekeeping, just clear explanations of what each reading is telling you.

More coins, more guides, more dials are on the way, and this Notes page will keep a running record of every step. CoinLAB stays free, stays calm, and stays focused on one thing: helping you read the market clearly.
