Life After Launch

2026-07-08

Until now, a card's grade was its whole story — the verdict of a life lived entirely before you met it. From today, every saved strategy keeps writing a forward record — a fresh page on each candle that arrived after it was born.

Below the hero of every backtest report sits a new panel — Since Launch. It takes the very same frozen strategy and replays it forward on the candles that arrived after the card was created — the stretch it never saw while it was being tested — and posts four plain numbers: Return, Win Rate, PF, and Trades.

It recomputes once a day, so the window keeps stretching and the numbers keep moving as trades close. The header carries the whole frame — the since → end window, the day count, and how fresh the read is. Not a snapshot pinned to a wall — a page the strategy is still writing.

One honest distinction: this is a simulation replayed on real candles, not live trading — no orders, no exchange ever touched — and it's a separate thing from the Live performance a signal line logs from messages it actually sent.

Scroll to the chart and the strategy's two lives are drawn as a single stretch. The backtest stretch renders in greyscale, its trades marked in gold — the life lived before you arrived. Then a single gold LAUNCH line falls at the card's birth, and everything past it turns to full colour, its since-launch trades marked in teal.

One glance tells you which side of the line a number came from — the rehearsal, or the performance that followed it.

Open a card you saved and the report quietly changes hands. The header stops saying BACKTEST and starts saying MY STRATEGY, the title becomes the strategy's own name, and the credit counter disappears. It reads less like a lab result and more like your file on a strategy you've decided to keep.

Over on My strategies, every card wears a Backtest ↔ Since Launch toggle that swaps the whole grid — the CAGR cell flips to a cumulative Return, and the rest follow suit. The toggle sits on every saved card — until a strategy logs real forward stats and its first closed trade, the Since Launch side simply reads an em-dash.

Not every strategy keeps running forever, and we don't pretend otherwise. When one leaves the working set its card reads Retired — no longer updated, and its final record is frozen exactly where it stopped — kept on the shelf, never quietly deleted. Retirement follows one standard, not a mood: a strategy is retired when its live record breaks the promise of its own backtest — a deeper drawdown than the backtest ever showed, sustained losses over a full sample, or no trading at all — and anyone who saved the card gets a note in their mailbox.

And when a strategy slips into sustained underperformance, the engine stops recomputing it and the card reads Stopped — underperformed since launch. That record is kept too — the poor chapters stay in the book — and anyone who saved the card gets a note in their mailbox, so they hear it from us rather than from a number that silently stopped moving.

A handful of trades over a couple of weeks is a small sample — enough to raise an eyebrow, nowhere near enough to settle an argument. So read the early pages as a hint, not a verdict, and let the window do its slow work.

Every Since Launch number describes something that already happened, on candles that already closed. It keeps a record of the life a strategy has led since its birth — and makes no appointment with the life still ahead of it.
